MINNESOTA
Pioneer 90.1, the radio station at Northland Community & Technical College, has received a $238,500 state grant to produce programming based on local musicians, filmmakers, authors and historians. The college will use part of the grant to offer free concerts featuring Minnesota musicians. The shows will be recorded, mixed with interviews with the performers and made available to other independent public radio stations in the state.
NORTH CAROLINA
Robeson Community College (RCC) and Johnston Community College (JCC) have received grants from the Golden Leaf Foundation. RCC will use its $500,000 grant to renovate its manufacturing facilities and to buy equipment for workforce training. JCC will use its $200,000 grant to start developing a virtual hospital on campus by buying simulation equipment.
TENNESSEE
Southwest Tennessee Community College (STCC) received a $250,000 donation from the Follett Higher Education Group that will go toward first-phase construction of a nursing, science and biotechnology facility. To date, the college’s foundation has raised about $10 million of its target $16.75 million to support its expansion efforts as part of the largest capital campaign in STCC’s history.
