Santa Monica College has received a $41,000 donation from the American Legion for crucial counseling and other needs for the college’s student veterans in the winter and spring sessions. Although most of the donation is going to counseling, $5,000 is being allocated to a veterans’ emergency fund. The donation comes from American Legion Post 283 in Pacific Palisades, which had previously helped fund veteran services and emergency loans with gifts totaling more than $40,000.

Florida

Miami Dade College will use a $60,000 grant from Health Foundation of South Florida to expand operations of the Wellness Clinic on its Medical Campus. The clinic provides health-care and wellness services to students. With the funds, employees and community members will be able to benefit from the services as well. The clinic will primarily serve low-income residents who are uninsured or underinsured.

Seminole State College of Florida’s Foundation Scholars Program got a boost with a $5,000 Wells Fargo grant. The program provides scholarships for needy students who are the first in their families to attend college.

Flathead Valley Community College will establish a permanent endowment thanks to a legacy gift of $2.4 million from the late Thain and Fay White. The Whites were long-time residents of Flathead Valley. The college’s foundation is working with college leadership to identify how the fund will be used to maximize its impact on student success and campus needs.

Pennsylvania

Harrisburg Area Community College (HACC) received a $400,000 grant from the Donald B. and Dorothy L. Stabler Foundation for scholarships for first-year students in engineering technology programs.
