Missouri

St. Charles Community College raised more than $50,000 at its third annual Rhythm and Ribs event. Guests enjoyed live music and barbecue while helping contribute to the student scholarships and academic enhancements at the college.

New Jersey

Gloucester County College will work with F&S Produce to train employees using a $324,800 grant from the New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development. The 325 employees of F&S Produce and its sister companies Pipco Transportation and Mid-Eastern Cold Storage will be trained in leadership management, systems training, vehicle operations, quality-control technology and food-systems administration. The grant runs until April 2013. 

Tennessee

Pellissippi State Community College received a $1-million donation that it will use to purchase its new Strawberry Plains Campus. Randy Boyd, president and CEO of PetSafe, and his wife, Jenny, made the donation in hopes of making college more accessible to the residents of East Knoxville.
